En dimmig oktober morgon nära Tiveden

An image that has grown from being, in my opinion, a mediocre image to becoming something more, almost existential

Took this picture when I was on the Gotska sand island one summer a few years ago. Did not like it at first but it has grown to become a late favorite. I like how the beach curve from the center of the image in the foreground to disappearing from the image in the background.

It takes twenty minutes by car from my home, and then another ten to fifteen minutes to walk from the parking lot to reach this view. Due to this relative proximity I have been there ... let's say a hundred times. The evening when this exposure came about, conditions were far from optimal and other occasions have been much more promising. However, just as I was about to unpack my camera, the clouds opened a door and let in a pink shimmer which together with the blue-gray haze from the otherwise dull light, for a few minutes became really really good. I took one good exposure then the light was gone. Wonderful is short, it is said, in this case it was true.

På Norðara fanns det inte så mycket att fota dvs den ända kvällen jag hade på mej att åka runt på ön. Dock såg jag något i ögonvrån när jag åkte av färgan i Skopun. Så jag körde tillbaka till andra sidan av ön från var mitt hotell låg till denna plats. Ironiskt nog vart förmodligen denna bild min bästa från resan till Färöarna

A sunrise caught near the Ösjönäs entrance at Tiveden National Park during the heat wave in the summer 2018

Tiveden National Park. I have been to this place earlier during the holiday (2018). Now, however, it was the last time before i would return to work ,and maybe the last day to take a somewhat decent photo of the place this summer. At first try, the morning sun did not really work it’s way out of the clouds and, shine on the trees to the left. Now I left my home at 1.30 am to arrive on time for the golden hour. When i finally arrived there was a lonely cloud just where the sun would shine the rays against my motif. The good light was almost over I and i had just about given up when the sun managed to free itself from the clouds. A few minutes later the sharp light had completely taken over the stage.

En morgon bild över häftiga klipp formationer i Tjørnuvík ,Färöarna sommaren 2017.

Ram à la Slåttdalsskrevan. Det är morgon i skuleskogen i början av September. Det är lite blåsigt och inga moln uppe vid Slåttdals skrevan . När solen tittar fram i bakgrunden av mitt motiv står tiden både still och samtidigt verkar den accelerera i ett allt för högt tempo. Nej kom solen upp i den vinkeln den lyser inte som jag visualiserat den att göra. Nu måste jag hitta nya vinklar och ger inte solens antågande ett för stort dynamiskt omfång. Har jag något filter som fungerar. Plötsligt har solen gått bakom skrevans inramning men då när allt ska vara över fungera min komposition igen och vinden avtar till ett för min exponeringstid mer samarbetsvilligt styrka. När ljuset väl blivet för skarpt är det nästan helt stiltje uppe på berget och en nästan sommarlik värme men med höstens höga luft, ger morgonen mej en helt unik frukost stund.

Frame à la Slåttdalskrevan. It is morning in the Skule forest in early September. It is a bit windy and there no clouds at all in Slåttdals crevice. When the sun rises in the background of my motif, time stands still and at the same time it seems to accelerate at an excessively high tempo. No the sun comes up in a completely wrong angle, it does not shine as I visualized it to do. Now I have to find new angles and isen’t the sun too bright for the dynamic range of my camera . Do I have any filter that works. Suddenly the sun has gone behind the crevice frame, but then when everything is over my composition starts to work again and the wind diminishes as if on command and gives the camera an exposure time that’s more like a manageable breeze. Once the light has become too bright it is almost completely still on the mountain and an almost summer-like heat but with the high air of autumn gives me a unique breakfast moment.

Troligen den sista bilden jag tog på min resa till Färöarna sommaren 2017. En fantastisk himmel var det med fina mönster i vattnet som förgrund. Sen var det förstås Månen ,som jag alltid tyckt varit svårflörtad att få med i kompositionen. 

Probably the last picture I took on my trip to the Faroe Islands in the summer of 2017. A fantastic sky with nice patterns in the water as foreground. Then of course the Moon, which I always think is difficult to compose.

Hobittown besöket fick en hetsigt rullande band känsla. Då guiden pushade oss att inte stanna så fort som jag försökte få till en bra komposition. Dock fick jag till denna kål bild.

The Faroe Island

A picture taken over a wintry Faroe Islands. This view is taken from Trælanípan and towards the airport (Vágar Floghavn). The funny thing about the context is that my goal for this day was what happened behind my back, that is Trælanípan.

However, this picture is many times better than the cool rock formations. As a landscape photographer, you sometimes have to capitulate to the fact that everything worth photographing happens behind you and not as planned 180 ° in the other direction

The photo was taken on my trip to Sandön 2019. I had several evenings with amazing light. Some were of course worse much worse. Like when the return date was moved forward when the boat that would pick us up would not be able to dock. Somehow though I was looking forward.
